EIGHT WHEELER: A twenty tonne capacity road vehicle
ELEVATOR: A mechanical device consisting of small buckets attached to a carrying chain. This raises the aggregate vertically to the height required. If the aggregate is hot from a dryer it is known as a 'Hot Elevator'.
ELONGATION: If an aggregate has one dimension substantially greater than the other two, it then suffers from elongation.
EMULSION: Macadam manufactured using a bitumen and water mixture to enable the material to be mixed cold.
